Robert Brake secondary school has long been known for its stringent rules and discipline policies. The school dressing code, curfew, and strict monitoring of extracurricular activities which left many students feeing suffocated.

In the dramatic turn of events, students have set fire to the school resulting in significant property damage.

The incident at Robert Brake secondary school serves a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from a disconnect between students and school administration.

  3. The administration must engage with students when establishing these rules , involve them, let them participate ...use a bottom up approach not top down....

I really think this is an issue that most secondary schools in Malawi face , in my opinion school administration must carry out careful analysis in the regulations and rules imposed on students . There should be a distinct difference between enforcing discipline and enforcing irrational rules on students to avoid such cases ...this in turn may affect the overall performance of students

  10. Authorities from different schools should learn something from this. Don't just formulate rules on their own and impose them on students. The world has completely changed democracy is every where so they could have engaged students when formulating the rules. This would have help the students understand everything and not be against the rules of the school
